Pros

Chance to work on unique and great projects A lot of chance to further develop yourself A lot of projects and chances to switch to other projects and business lines

Cons

No innovation, no real new products - safety first! Just introduced the Expert Career Path for a Technical Career branch Not the feeling that management can move anything A lot of fences between departments

Pros

To work at Airbus brings a lot of work benefits and a good salary. When you have a 40h week you wont be working much more hours than that, which gives a good work/life balance. Also it is great to take the ferry shuttle to work in Hamburg. There are a lot of interesting subjects to work on and you have all kinds of airplanes, including the A380 near you all day long!

Cons

The company is very big and therefore slow with changes and your visibility as an employee to the upper management is lower than in a smaller company. The site in Hamburg is quite big, that you dont meet your friends from work so often.

Pros

Friendly colleagues Impressive end product (not that you'll ever see much of it)

Cons

Talking in acronyms is common to any sphere of work, but here it really does rule the day and I expect many of the misguided souls who work here feel proud to be 'on the inside'. Astrium is a company of one-trick ponies grinding their way slowly through meetings about meetings not to mention the endless paperwork. It's amazing to think that working products actually emerge at the end of this slow and inefficient process. Pay is in the lower quartile relative to other sectors and career progression poor. So many people here seem trapped with no transferable skills and boy don't HR know this. Ok for contractors as a last resort but again pay rates are low. If you really must work in the space sector, seek out opportunities in Canada and the USA.
