Pros

It is a great and stable company. People are great for the most part, but there ar a few bad apples like any family or company. It has ample opportunities and offers anything and everythi9ng to its employees.

Cons

It is a large corporation and there is a fair amount of red tape for a quick career advancement. You need to be in the right place at the right time.

Pros

Interesting work Good feeling of helping people 401(k) plan is good

Cons

Senior Management do not seem to know what they are doing. If they weren't all good friends from years back they would have all fired each other by now. Almost all Senior Management came out of Allergan and those in other branches who developed successful businesses independently are psuhed out. There are too many changes of plan. Management take care of the details and don't seem to worry about the big picture. A lot of good people have left and there is a gloomy feeling that things will continue to get worse. The stock price supports that. There is WAY too much interest in business management bs and not enough focus on product and "gettn er done"

Pros

Good benefits, lots of different job opportunities for internal hire. They're very good about giving people time off whenever needed, and probably the most flexible company I have worked for in terms of work/life balance. The science at Abbott is cutting edge, and there is definitely a sense of company pride in the accomplishments of the R&D organization.

Cons

Extremely poor communication from senior management. Being a fantastic liar is a job qualification to become a corporate officer. If management decides to sell a $9 billion division, having hundreds of people change all their benefit plans, sell houses, retire etc..... then decides to cancel it and tell them they are highly valued employees, they should not be surprised when people don't believe a word they are saying.
