Pros

The vacation can be good. you get 3 weeks after 7 years, and 4 weeks after 15 years, 5 weeks after 25 years. 401k is good The benefits are just average benefits, and they've gotten worse since the BellSouth/AT&T merger The tuition assistance is good and it give employees an opportunity to better themselves.

Cons

There is a real concern from my fellow coworkers regarding a lack of solid training. We are learning "on the fly" in most cases. Very frustrating. We have weak managers. The lack of managerial experience really shows when dealing with outside contractors. It's embarrasing to see. Condescending attitudes are prevalent in our department, which leads to level consciousness. Our director has never had a conversation with me, yet our old director under BellSouth called me out of the blue to see how my family was doing and how i was fitting into my position. Imagine that!

Pros

Large company, many opportunities. Management gets great concessions on home phone, ld, high speed internet, u-verse and wireless.

Cons

hourly employees are bargained for and although cwa and att typically have a good relationship, a retail environment is no place for union representation. a call center, factory or plant, maybe, but not in a shop that has only 5 to 15 bargained for employees, if you have plans on finishing college, forget it. schedules are based on seniority and all schedules are created to look equally unappealing. Health care costs to the employee have just taken a turn for the worst. part time employees can expect to work to pay for benefits.

Pros

Steady work - small layoffs (for now), Many training opportunities. Nationwide office opportunities. Upcoming product discounting opportunities finally available. Uverse is pretty kick butt. Opportunities for many job titles to work remotely. Lots of opportunities to make your own decision with very little hand slapping. Benefits are pretty decent - if you do not get sick or need much health care.

Cons

So big you can get lost within... If you are not a sales rep - you can be invisible. Ugly offices. When people leave they disappear - leaving their absence up to gossipy speculations. Have seen 20+ year employees laid off before retirement.
