Pros

Job satisfaction consists of what you bring to your role, the effort and commitment you put into your work and your attitude towards change and challenges. I thoroughly enjoy getting up and going to work each day. My colleagues are the best in the business! They epitomize commitment to their work and care for our customer as well as the impact their work ultimately has on our nation. I take great pride in this purpose too. They are also very approachable, friendly, and funny. There's nothing better than laughter to get through the day. I have realized growth in my career here and been promoted once. Going through an acquisition has been difficult for some but this has been a fantastic opportunity for personal growth. Working with our parent company affords all of us exposure to a breadth of resources and continually give us new challenges to make work interesting. ASM is a very flexible company embracing telework opportunities. Their headquarters is an easy commute for me and in DC that is a huge plus! It is a beautiful building with windows everywhere that showcase an incredible view of Northern Virginia. I take advantage of all training opportunities. I also use the gym reimbursement and enjoy the gourmet coffee, fresh fruit and healthy snacks.

Cons

Not everyone is navigating the acquisition well. Now that we are a publicly owned company and no longer a small employee owned business there is new accountability for our efforts. Those that coasted along are not happy. There negatively can be contagious if you aren't careful. The days of working for one company for your entire career are gone. Many should be resolved of that and widen appiture of there search for career fuflilment or retire. Our new line of business has added a different level of worker to our mix. They too are constant complainers and their reviews on this platform should be taken with a grain of salt. They have had no accountability in their jobs before and do not have the maturity to address questions and concerns with their leadership. Many worked for prior companies that didn't follow federal guidelines and are having to make some adjustments. All of them are being paid a decent wage and receive benefits. Sorry the cost of healthcare foes up for all of use. They should remember that we value our employees but answer to the customer. If they make staffing changes sometimes it is at the request of the customer. Not everyone can meet high standards.

Pros

There is nothing positive about this company.

Cons

This company seems to be trying to ruin everything about the National Service Desk. After replacing the former contract company, they cut pay and benefits, did not provide a smooth transition, and do not provide opportunities for overtime. Staff was without insurance for an entire month. This company also cut a large amount of jobs for no reason and began hiring under-qualified employees to replace experienced staff. Upper management does not care how staff is affected.

Pros

Flexible, not high stress, people are generally nice, 401k match up to 3 percent, decent medical coverage.

Cons

There is very little communication between employees and management. We are constantly kept in the dark while management makes decisions. Regular employees are not trusted. Nepotism is rampant, with jobs going to VPs kids and other family members. Salaries are below industry standards, with higher ups making way too much money. The company has really changed since being bought by AFS. ASM use to a client centered company, now it seems more dollar driven.

We encourage employees to reach out to their supervisor or manager if they are having any concerns about being kept informed on project or company issues rather than take to social networking to post a complaint. This way we can work together better to resolve any concern or misunderstanding. Employees can also participate in company Brown Bag sessions and read the intranet postings and newsletter to stay abreast of the latest news.
