Pros

Competitive salaries Good benefits Flexible working hours

Cons

This is for the BPLRT project. Upper management loops every team into the same meetings almost every day. Meetings of 30+ people are the norm, while everyone is expected to explain intricate technical details to everyone else. Expect to spend half your day listening to problems that aren't related to your work. Absurd amount of politics due to the blame shifting culture caused by upper management. Sarcasm is the usual way of conveying displeasure. Extremely unprofessional mannerisms are tolerated. Multiple project delays are causing the upper management to constantly chase you for deadlines and expect the impossible. High turnover rate, resulting in blurred job roles due to poorly formed JDs and panic hiring. Some vital engineering functions have 0 manpower working on it "because the person working on it left". Expertise knowledge is spread throughout multiple countries. Usually this isn't a problem, but relationships between the local and foreign teams are extremely bad due to upper management micromanaging their idea of "escalation" to foreign bosses. Expect no support from offshore even with "escalation".

Pros

Inflated salaries. Free tea and coffee

Cons

Most of management is unqualified and have no people skills. Bullying and favouritism is rife. I was bullied and harassed by a manager who was less qualified than me, made my life at work a misery, and yet didn’t even understand what I did or was educated or qualified enough to understand, as result, I was seen as a threat and bullied with the backing of HR to boot. No defined career path, unless you’re in the favourites club. Idiotic objectives are set for you to do as well as your workload, unless you’re a favourite, then they are set very easy, otherwise you’re set up to fail, so no pay rise. The environment is draconian and depressing. You feel like a school kid again.

Pros

Good Package at time of joining (need to negotiate). They are facing difficulty in finding good skilled people. Don't expect good hike every year.

Cons

Management doesn't have focus. Culture is too bad (From top to bottom, only blame game and escalation). No one is happy. 90% of people with whom i have interacted wanted to quit Alstom. They are literally trapped in Alstom since they are not able to change job in short duration of service and effect their repetition. I have stopped referring my friends after 2 months of experience in Alstom. Alstom is making huge loss with India projects. Too much of travel to remote place.
