Pros

The ONLY good thing about this company is the 401k benefits, which is 6% match + 3% on top. If that's enough for you to trade your self esteem and dignity for the cronyism and nepotism, then go for it, but please read on.

Cons

AIG has some of the worse leadership I've ever seen. Cronyism and nepotism equates to job security. If you are one of the few smart ones, they will stack you under one of the idiots in their 'club', might be tolerable at first, but give it a year or two, itll slowly eat your soul. They also like to keep people busy by doing things the hard inefficient way instead of investing in the right tools and systems. This is the most fractured and dysfunctional organizations you'll ever experience. Oh and you can forget about a raise. Lastly, this has one of the worst corporate cultures I've seen in decades of working. The economy is humming and every other company is making record profits, AIG is the only ones losing $6.6 billion. The only thing they cover is their own as.....

Pros

Good work/ life balance for some groups. Depending on your group in the NYC area, you may primarily work from home, which saves lots of time and money on commuting. Good PTO (4 weeks and the ability to carry over 10 unused vacation days). 9% 401K match (3% contributed by the company regardless of whether you contribute anything + an additional company match up to 6%) . Decent fund options.

Cons

Morale is very low. No opportunities for advancement. AIG has not provided cost-of-living adjustments, raises or promotions in years and they continue to cut expenses wherever they can. They also continue to reduce staff each year while hiring well paid executives from outside the company. This all leads to situations where people are overworked, underpaid and in fear of losing their jobs.

Pros

Benefits are good. 401k 6% + 3% is good. Sr. Leadership has hired grown-ups - I really hope they impact culture sooner rather than later.

Cons

HR organization is terrible to work with and in. Lots of good people leaving realizing the culture will not change.
