Pros

The compnay is great for someone who is intersted in working as a financial advisor. They really a support your efforts and are always looking for fresh new talent. It is also nice that you can speak with your manager whenever you so choose. The company has an open door policy and it will respectfully listen to the gripes of its employees. Its also nice that the company doesn't mind spending money even if your not getting the job done. I guess thats the case if your an employee. Also the communication between workers at the company is good. There is a lot of sharing of ideas.

Cons

The company culture really is not good. The typical office is very clicky and not at all warm. Many of the managers only speak to you when they have to and that's it.The company is also a very boring and mundane place to have to work at everyday. The turnover at the job is quite high. Many of the people who I know who work there only see there position as a job and not a career. And they perform with that in mind. There is not much pride that workers put into there job there. The company is also at fault being that they do not fully support the effort of there employees.

Pros

Good paying company, with decent work life balance. In some specific product lines there is a lot you can learn. There is a lot you can learn from an international management perspective due to AIG's matrix structure.

Cons

Very slow moving company in terms of decision making. Completely not conducive for young employees. The org structure is archaic, and simply not conducive to innovation, rapid responses to market changes - too many approvals required, very archaic IT department etc.

Pros

High Pay, but lost my job. The influx of tarp money has changed the way we do business,

Cons

Tarp money, no big bonus anymore. The government is now a partner, in fact owns 80 % of us. Having big government breathing down our backs makes it difficult to make informed decisions.
