Pros

Chartis has good products, systems and is a market leader is various product lines. Its a good name to have in your resume. If you can work at Chartis, you can work anywhere.

Cons

Specifically for the call centre (inbound), management show no concern for the welfare of its employees. If you have a relationship, family, children, friends, be prepared to disown them. Overtime is mandatory EVERYDAY. They will tell you its only up to 630pm-7pm. The fact is that the number of cases you are assigned is more than you can complete within allocated. Be prepared to step out of office only at 8-830pm if you plan to complete your follow-up cases. If you are new, lunch is 30min and can be rather stressful. Many senior staff has left and even the new hires are not staying long due to the stressful environment and strain on personal/family life.

Pros

Stability, ability to gain knowledge, and generally nice people. We are given every opportunity to advance our education. Co-workers are very willing to help to ensure you are knowledgeable and can do the job properly.

Cons

No advancement opportunities. It seems managers can never get approval to add headcount. When there is an opening, it seems the hiring manager already has someone in mind, and you get the feeling they are just going through the paces when interviewing candidates. It seems like only managers and above are getting promotions, while lower tier employees are snubbed. Instead of taking a chance with an internal candidate, they will often hire from outside.

Pros

With everything the economy's been through it is difficult for me to find a single positive about working at AIG or any of its business units. Although many of us are far removed from the Financial Products group that was caught up in the Credit Default Swap scandal, it is very easy to see how this occurred through the cultural lens of our own business unit’s management teams. AIG, from top to bottom, has no concept of “Process.”

Cons

Poor pay, far below market rate particularly in NY. Promotions, bonuses and pay increases are far and few between or fail to keep up with inflation. Typically, individuals will leave the company and return withing a few years at a higher level.
