In my first interview with the recruiter, they asked about my salary expectations. I mentioned that I’m aiming for the higher end of the range because of my experience and the skills I bring to the role. I shared my desired rate based on their posted range, but the offer was lower. They explained the higher range was listed due to state regulations and not intended to be offered. The recruiter said that if I started at the top of the pay range, I likely wouldn’t receive any raises down the line. Ultimately, I appreciated the offer, but the lack of transparency and flexibility made me feel my experience wasn’t fully valued.
