I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Chicago, IL) in Dec 2019
Interview
Applied online and after about a month, received an email to submit a coding challenge. They offered two problems and I had to choose one. I was given about ten days to complete the assignment. After a few days, I received an email for a phone interview to discuss the job, my coding challenge and a little about my resume. After that, the next step is an onsite interview at one of their offices if everything goes well during the phone interview and the feedback on the coding challenge was positive.

Interview
After sending my resume, I got an e-mail saying that they'd like to have a first interview with me. It was a talk with a recruiter. The recruiter appeared 10 minutes late to the interview then he asked a lot of questions. He mentioned that I was probably going to be disqualified for the process because I don't speak fluent German but that he would check with his superior and let me know. I replied that if it would have been shown in the job description, I wouldn't have applied since I know I don't meet this requirement. Some days after, I got a generic e-mail saying that I was rejected because they felt my experience wasn't a good match. I was expecting a 1-1 response from the recruiter about the German requirement like he agreed in the interview but instead I was disappointed by a generic e-mail. To be honest, it felt like a complete waste of my time.

Interview
Extremely difficult but worth it, there were a lot of tests but all have a reason behind - you will just see the big picture at vey the end.
I would say that the testers are highly experienced and the test itself should not be taken lightly.
