I applied online. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Aug 2021
Interview
Was reached out to to take an aptitude test online and given a few days to study (given the list of topics). Once I had passed the aptitude test, I did a preliminary interview with the head of the division I would be working under. After this interview, I did a more technical interview with an engineer on the team. I then did another technical interview with an engineer on a different team. Had I "passed" these interviews I would have had to do a presentation for a panel of engineers, but I didn't hear anything back/get any follow-up after the third interview. Overall, everyone was very friendly, very informative, and seemed very willing to make the process comfortable and smooth (up to not hearing back anyway).
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla in Apr 2021
Interview
Recruiter reached out through LinkedIn. Had 2 phone interviews with hiring manager and senior engineer in team. Both were relatively informal and somewhat technical. Got no reply after second interview.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Apr 2018
Interview
A recruiter reached out via email. Interviewed with two different teams. Had phone calls with recruiter and hiring manager for each team. Was asked to do a challenge for one team prior to the on-site and was asked to prepare a presentation for the other team's onsite. Due to scheduling I presented to both teams at the same time and was told if things went well I would be required to finish the challenge for the other team.

Question 1
Why Tesla? Why our team vs. a different team in Tesla?
