I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Tesla (Fremont, CA) in Sep 2018
Interview
I selected manager on this job title but I honestly don't know as my resume was forwarded onto another recruiter who was trying to fill several openings on her plate. You can notice that online Tesla is struggling greatly to fill hundreds of openings to keep up with customer demand, which is a positive problem, but I quickly discovered why they're struggling...They didn't hire the right people to do the hiring. The only questions she asked was tell me about your background and my I have a solid sales and management background, with multiple awards to show for my efforts, plus a Master's degree. When I asked what they're trying to fill, she said they're so many it's hard to say. Later I received an E-mail they're not moving forward...Moving forward with what position exactly? They're are literally hundreds of positions and I don't know, which one she was referring to!?
For full disclosure, I'm okay with not being selected for a specific role as that's part of the process in finding the right job but I am NOT okay with recruiters that can't even begin to start a conversation on what they're looking because they're overloaded with openings.
Tesla is a very fast growing company as you can see from their numbers but it's VERY hard to grow with the auto industry if you're recruiters are unorganized and unable to focus on specific tasks at hand. My advice Tesla Corporate, as bad as this sounds, is to do a reboot with your recruiting team and get the right detail-oriented people in there to actually grow the business. If you look at their openings page you can see this move is called for.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Fremont, CA) in Oct 2017
Interview
I had 6 different phone interviews leading up to my on-site in Fremont. I met with a panelist of 7 different people onsite in 30 minute intervals. I had a designated recruiter through the entire process who was great about following up and providing updates.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tesla
Interview
Very poor interview experience. Recruiters are inexperienced and unprofessional. After the full interviews, they admitted that I was too qualified for the role... Something they should have figured out before flying me for a full day to their offices? Recruiters ghosted and stopped answering emails or phone calls. Clearly, the company is in such a rush to hire that recruiters are becoming negligent.
