      Product Manager Interview

      Nov 11, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Indeed (Austin, TX) in Oct 2019

      Interview

I had two phone interviews, one with a recruiter and one with the hiring manager. Both went very well. The recruiter asked to give him dates/times to come onsite. I gave three different options that were within the next two weeks. Although the dates/times were towards the end of the two week window. A few days later, I get a call from the recruiter asking if I could come onsite right away because they just had a strong candidate come through. It turned me off that the recruiter was trying to pressure me into coming in when I had other stuff going on (e.g. traveling for other interviews, family obligations, etc.). So, one week goes by and four days before I'm supposed to go on-site, I get an email from the recruiter telling me that they made an offer to the other candidate and he/she accepted. On top of that, the recruiter also stands me up for a pre-scheduled call that we were supposed to have to go over the details of what to expect at the on-site interview. It's fine if Indeed wanted to hire the other candidate before I even had a chance to go on-site. The part that is annoying is that for such a big decision, Indeed would not wait a few extra days for me to go onsite. If the other candidate met their bar, why did they even try to pressure me to come onsite within 48 hours. Why didn't they just give the other candidate the offer and tell me before we locked in a date/time for my on-site? I feel that I got penalized for not jumping to come on-site the instant they beckoned me to come. Poor communication, mis-managed expectations and ghosting candidates that are It says a lot about how much they (don't) respect their candidates.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Indeed in Feb 2026

      Interview

Heard back right away (within 2 days) asking to schedule a screener interview. Recruiter called, and honestly seemed very unenthusiastic from the beginning, like I was wasting her time. My skills and experience lined up very well with the job decription, including several optional nice to have skills, and she completely downplayed them, saying that wasn't really part of the main job, so didn't matter.

      Question 1

Asked me to describe my background and experience, and then follow up questions. No real behavioral or probing questions. Was extremely cursory.

6 rounds of interviews, too many interviews to receive a job offer and way too many interviews to make a final decision, should be 3 tops, kept adding another interview at end
