I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at FDM Group (New York, NY) in Sep 2011
Interview
Got a call from FDM a day before the assessment day. They told me I had to prepare a presentation on any IT topic to bring to assessment day. I felt rushed so I just made a presentation of the first topic that came to mind.
On assessment day the first thing they ask for was your passport and resume. They made copies of the documents while you fill out an application. Next you are brought into a small classroom where they showed you a video about FDM. After that you will be given a group activity to see how you interact with other candidates while FDM employees watch you. After the group activity you will give your presentation to everyone in the classroom. Be prepared for questions by FDM people. Afterwards you get a hr lunch break. After lunch you get simple programming/logic test and a grammar exam. During the test you will be pulled out for a 1:1 interview and HR interview. In the 1:1 interview your code will be reviewed by a trainer there. Be prepared to defend your code! The HR interview is the standard. When you are done with the interviews the day is pretty much over.
When I was at the office it didn't really feel lively...maybe it's just me. Interviewers were very friendly and knowledgable.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at FDM Group in Apr 2010
Interview
I approached the company after the career fair. Then I sent my CV and got my interview arranged after a few days. I passed my intervew and started my IT training. Now I had a two professional qualification such as ITIL and IOC as well as experience in SQL,UNIX,VBA and soft skills. I personally found the whole training very useful and unique. Most importantly, it's so difficult to get into investment bank by yourself and through FDM you get plenty opportunities which is invaluable. The staff there are friendly as well. Overall, it's a good experience.
