I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Capital One (Vienna, VA)
Interview
I had a phone screen with HR, then hiring managers, then was brought in for a in-person interview. The in-person interview is a full 8 hrs, consisting of different types of interviews: behavioral, case study, and design challenge. I was put in a room for day which was in a very high traffic area and the room was very warm. One of the people who was supposed to interview me was out that day, so instead of pulling someone else to replace them, they let me sit in the room by myself for over an hour. Additionally, they mentioned that I may have to come back a different day to do that interview. I felt this was a little unreasonable because the require you to be there for an entire day to interview already, which means taking additional time off from your current job.
Most everyone I interviewed with was very nice and made me feel comfortable. The last two people, just made me feel uncomfortable and the entire interaction was awkward. I've had good and bad interviews, this wasn't bad but the last two employees probably need a little training on how to interact with interviewees. The interview itself was hard, especially if you've never done this type of interview before and an 8 hr interview is a long day, but it was a great learning experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The design challenge required you pick from 4 different options and come up with a list of problems that can be solved with these options.
The interview process was extensive, involving multiple rounds. Each stage required a deep, detailed understanding of every project I’ve managed — architecture decisions, challenges faced, and outcomes achieved. This thorough approach ensured both technical depth and clear communication were evaluated at every step.
Interview process started with an online Assessmsent first, HR Screening , then mini case study. Case study involved data review, giving feedback on how results could be improved. You will get asked technical questions (how would you build a certain application so have UI and Design questions practiced.
Frist round included a virtual culture assessment. Online scenarios and options of what to chose so that they can see the types of decisions you make, not necessarily how you make these decisions.
