I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at CNN (Atlanta, GA) in Mar 2016
Interview
I applied to CNN for several positions over the course of a year. I stopped after a while and heard back almost four months later. I went through my records, and I couldn't find anywhere that I applied for this specific position within the Image and Sound department. Anyway, I got a call from the supervisor and set up a video chat. She asked me a few basic questions and was giving me guidance for a video chat interview about a week later with her supervisor and one other person. When that came, her supervisor asked me a lot of rapid fire questions to try to get to know me. He made a specific point that he would definitively tell me within three weeks whether or not I got the job. I never heard back.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at CNN (New York, NY) in Jan 2015
Interview
Everyone was interesting and nice, seemed genuinely excited to work there. I met with multiple people and learned how reporters pitch stories, how they decide what to work on, and what stories to emphasize. They also had a great graphics team that they worked with outside the company which did a really good job with animations etc.
