The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Sep 2011
Interview
The Company most often has internal candidates identified for positions, even when the incumbent is still in the job. Amex works very hard to ensure appropriate diversity at all job levels... which is a nice way of saying that you're favored if you are in a group that helps achieve diversity goals. They conduct many interviews with non-diverse candidates to show that they interviewed a diverse slate of candidates... which is pretty obvious when you get a non-descript, non-challenging interview. Caveat emptor.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Walk me through your resume (this is difficult because it shows they didn't care enough to prep for the discussion. You get follow up comments like "Oh, I didn't realize you had experience with x"... which is obnoxious when it's clearly laid out on your resume.)
I applied online. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Oct 2023
Interview
Met with an HR Partner and I thought the discussion went well until I was asked what year did I graduate College. I believe my age was an ultimate factor in their decision making.

The process took 2 months. I interviewed at American Express (Sunrise, FL) in Apr 2019
Interview
Several executive level one to one meetings, including the SVP. Everyone seemed disinterested and inconvenienced by the interview. The questions seemed super vague and disconnected to the role so answering them was difficult.

How would you handle joining a team where your teammates are disappointed the role was filled from the outside.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at American Express in Sep 2017
Interview
I went for the interview which was a mixture of competency based questions and a walk through of my previous roles and experience. The interview went well and I was offered the time after a couple other interviews with HR and someone from the business.
