I am still undergoing the interview process. Had one round over phone and second is tomorrow.
I gave one interview with them in the past and cleared 2 ph rounds and went into an in-person. There was this chinese dude with an accent like I have not seen ever before. I had super tough time understanding anything he said and i am honestly surprised how he can conduct business with that kind of speaking skills. I was not ever sure if I was answering his question or blabbering something else altogether.
first time:
Questions were mostly around general PMP style project management on the phone. Lot of what would you do if projects are late, how do you approach projects (breakdown of work), escalation methods etc etc.
In person, they tried to grill me on Scrum which I wasnt good with at the time. Asked about my book reading habits. Asked to design a web services framework for gift cards. Object oriented programming questions. A lot of Project mgmt questions. One question was funny where he said, if i was to manage a project with 100s of team dependencies and the resources are not coming available what would I do. I kept telling all the standard methods and he keeps saying what if it doesnt work and what if that doesnt work... I told him that if they have a problem like that, then they actually have bigger problems in their company than project management.
I didnt think it was too hard, but was definitely interesting. In the end, they rejected me.
Second time:
Only one ph round so far. It was interesting.

Initial HR screening interview, then interviews by senior technical program managers.
HR people were very accommodating.
Unfortunately the last interviewer seemed to think he was interviewing a project management professional, although the job description did not require it and I did not claim it. Much time wasted.

Actually had two go rounds. The first was two phone interviews then a trip to Seattle and one on interviews with six interviewers. The first interview was technical in nature and came down to basically how do you scale systems. The second was a senior program manager, which was a good talk on management style.
The on-site interview was 11-4 and consisted of six one-hour interviews including one over lunch. I was interviewed for two positions. Questions weren't particularly tough and technically mostly about scalability of systems. Some of the younger interviewers seem to be following a script or were responsible to get an answer on a specific area.
I thought it went well but never heard back from Amazon.inc for six weeks and, of course, with no feedback.
I was surprised to hear back from them in January 2012 to set up another set of interviewers. This time, the recruiter was a total flake. On the first attempt for the initial phone interview, the interviewer was a no show. The interview was rescheduled for two weeks later. Amazon offered no explanation or apology.
This interview did not go well. I took an immediate dislike to the interviewer, a eastern European of some sort. He was arrogant and disinterested. I think this was a check box interview and a waste of both of our time.
Overall, Amazon's interview process is, well, a bit moronic. Very few organizational "fit" questions. It felt scripted and mechanic.

Question 1
All technical questions had to do with scalability. All management questions had to with estimating/reporting time to finish.
