Cons
1.) Managers who never have your back; if you are an hourly employee - every word that you speak is immediately assumed false & all shift-leaders, captains, floor supervisors etc. can say anything they feel and it is automatically presumed the truth. **For Example: You are called into the office and accused of going to the restroom without asking permission - even if you did actually ask permission, if the shift leader (who makes $1.00/hr more than you) says you just 'disappeared', it is there word against yours and you will receive a 'write-up' (which is also 'not a write-up'...very confusing b/c it is written up and placed into your permanent file!) You really must be a brown-noser in order to rise up in the ranks of this unit. 2.) There are different rules for different staff. It depends on how well you are liked/disliked by managers that determines your course of punishment. One day an action you perform is applauded and you have made "a good contribution" to the TEAM (<--- THAT word is an oxymoron in itself, but that is a whole other story). One minute you are the 'bosses pet' & the next minute you are being reprimanded for something your SUPERVISOR did the week before. There really is no consistency. 3.) The managers will constantly tell you 'you need to make more of an initiative, do n't wait for someone to tell you to do something, if you know if needs to be done, JUST DO IT!" HOWEVER, even though this weakness causes your annual raise amount to be less, if you do take an initiative, you are desecrated in front of your peers - violently yelled at among the very people you want to have respect for you and vice versa. If you give ANY advice or ideas, they are 99.9% SHOT down before even being reviewed -or- they are used a few months down the road w/o any recognition to the true originator as to give credit to the manager never the hourly employee. 4.) The management never acknowledges the SKILLS (strengths) that their staff possesses, instead they focus on their weaknesses & uses them to try and 'motivate' better work results. Also, they are not apprehensive when choosing their location to berate the employee - many times I recall instances in which GROWN ADULTS were embarrassingly reprimanded in front of their peers for miniscule, petty incidents. **I honestly could go on for days because we were never able to speak freely about the mistreatment that was constantly crippling our desire to improve and grow within an otherwise WONDERFUL COMPANY. There were moments where my peers were fed up and felt comfort in reaching out to HR (which most people know is not there to protect the staff but to protect the company) only to be let down, and eventually let go...My hope is to one day find out that the amazing co-workers I had the pleasure of working with have finally been matched with a STRONG, LOYAL management team to ignite this unit and make it the best possible.
