What is the difference between a bond and a stock?

A bond is a publicly tradable form of debt issued by a company whereas a stock is a share of a company (equity). Anyone who cannot answer such a question should reconsider working in the financial service industry...

@Husk I disagree with your thoughts on the above. At the end of the day, those two terms are jargon and just because someone doesn't know it doesn't mean they will not perform well in the financial services industry. Having said that, knowing the jargon shows that you have a genuine interest in the sector and would improve your chances greatly.
